Flash Animations

This is in response to Jack Woodcock's Flashtastic post. After watching the video, "I love death," it reminded me of these Flash animations I saw a few months ago.

Web Link - Stick men Fight

This animation is very simple in style, simple line drawn backgrounds and stick-men characters. What gives this animation character is the pain staking effort that has gone into animating the movements of the figures and sound effects to give it a matrix like feel. Very simple concept but effective in its entertainment value.

Web Link - Animator vs. Animation

This animation is from a design called Alan Becker and follows the same Flash Stick man animation style as above, only this time the character is interacting with a computer desktop environment. Whilst the first animation was nice to watch, the style didn't develop much, it was a standard stick man fighting other stick man. This one on the other hand had it's stick man up against a number of different obstacles keeping it constantly interesting and fun to watch.

Web Link - Heineken Promotion
(Follow this link for animation)

The thing I like about this stick man animation was that it was being used as a promotion tool as well as being fun to watch. What also stands out with this compared to the other two is it had more three-dimensional look to it.

There are a number of other animations similar to these ones on YouTube or any other video based site, but out of the ones I saw these are the best. One thing they all have in common is a unique and simple concept and really show that the most important part of any character is in the animation rather then the actual look of it.
