Optical Illusions

After seeing the work of Johan Lorbeer and his optical illusions, I was reminded of these word illusions I saw a few months ago. They play on words to give them double meaning in the context in the situation.

This one doesn't have double meaning, but the layout of the words and the patterns causes the words to play on the eyes to make you believe they are moving, which gives this image more, "life."

This piece is my favourite as its using relevant words to define the features of the faces to get across the artists political views. Whilst the other images are fun to look at, this one has actual purpose.

A few years ago, the idea of optical illusion was a big influence in my art. I was creating pieces of work that you could see different images, contained in the same canvas. This piece overlays images of different musical instruments, yet by the way it has been coloured, you can still see the whole shape of the individual instruments.

This piece was inspired by Julian Opie who designed the cover for the Blur Greatest hists album. You just have to look at it from different angles to see the images of two different faces.
