On Thursday the 15th January 2009, T-Mobile filmed this campaign at Liverpool Street Station in London. What appears to be normal looking people are working there way around the station, ready to dance in a choreographed style when the music is boomed over the loud speakers. This style of advertising cannot fail to get the public attention, its too memorable. In fact, I wish that I could have been there that day because it would have really brightened up a miserable weekday work morning.
Although its a great idea, and nice to see done professional and worked into an advertisement, this guerrilla style campaign is not completely original. Here's a clip that works along the same basis, although this time it's a public freeze.
Fat Boy Slim uses this idea in an old music video for his song Praise You, only this time, the choreography is aimed to be awful, but the seriousness on the faces of these people only work to make it more entertaining and comical.
