Spooks is a BBC drama, that is currently in its seventh series. The series is about MI-5, a British intelligence division in London that stop terrorist plots. The show involves lots of drama, action, and surprising twists to the story.
The first positive thing I can say about the show is its title sequence. I enjoy watching title sequences to shows, and the title sequence for this show is definitely one of my favourites. What really defines it, is the music, which has a very on edge feel, as if the beats in the music is the heart beating. The quick edits work in time beautifully with the music so that it flows nicely, with typographical and graphic shape images working it's way into places to really give it that graphic look. The overall tone of the show, is conveyed perfectly in it's opening, slick and stylish.

This clip is from the first episode of the seventh series, which I watched in October 2008. The clip is a perfect example of all the elements of the show. The character is Adam Carter, the main character of the show, racing a car loaded with a bomb to a safe location. In the process, he is killed in the explosion. The clip is fast paced and exciting, keeping you on the edge of the seat until the last second. It also shows how major the twists can be. It kills off the main character of a show, which literally had me speechless and shocked when I saw the outcome. What is also impressive is the realism involved. The BBC don't invest as big a budget as they do on American shows, but that explosion scene was epic, fitting to killing off a lead character who has been a favourite for years. The explosion was not only huge, but you could also see, in slow motion, the character being engulfed by the flames, which would have been a very hard shot to get right. Usually in a film, it would just cut to an explosion, you would never see properly the character being swallowed in there last second of life.
